Learning The Work is easy and free. The most common reference is Katie’s Youtube channel. There you can see The Work in action and how self-inquiry can be so beneficial in the quest to understand ourselves and heal from traumatic events.
Here you can find all the resources to do The Work, including an important tool called the Worksheet. The Worksheet acts as a container to hold all of your beliefs, judgements, complaints and fears around a situation. I find simple act of filling out the Worksheet therapeutic when I’m stressed out or depressed.
Doing The Work on a regular basis is important. Having a facilitator hold you through a Worksheet is an enlightening experience. The Worksheet is so thorough, so deep and the medicine so revealing a seemingly traumatic event points a person back to the source of the suffering, all suffering: the human mind.
If you’re ready to be held in a situation and committed to a Worksheet, I am honored to help you through it. There’s no topic or place I won’t go. As a former skeptic, I can attest that each time I facilitate, I witness someone change in a radical way. The healing comes from you; I only show you how the tools work and help you use them.
Facilitate through a Worksheet (usually 1.5 hours)
If you’d like me to facilitate through a session of The Work I ask you watch some Youtube videos, anchor in a situation and fill in a Worksheet. If the Worksheet is confusing, or the traumatic event details foggy I can help fill in the blanks.
During this session we’ll take a look at how our thoughts around a situation are often a greater source of suffering than the event itself.
Journey to the Underworld (usually 2 hours)
Do you have experience in The Work and see worksheets on different people that look similar? Do you react to different situations the same way with the same emotions? Are your complaints of other people consistent? These are sign posts that show recurring events, triggers, reactions and behaviors that are trying to get our attention.
In this facilitation I’ll use additional subquestions to take us to other situations and underlying beliefs that direct us to the part of us that really needs inquiry: the ego.
An underworld session is usually two hours. You must have a Worksheet ready and an open mind to subquestions and examining underlying beliefs.
Dialoging with Ourselves (usually 2.5 hours with a follow-up session)
Exploring the parts of us in greater detail there are parts of us that we experience events through. As a results these parts assume their own responsibilities for behaviors. These parts act as mechanisms that govern our behavior around danger, fear, work, children, spouses, life and so on. They are responsible for protecting us, criticizing ourselves, feeding us, and pushing down painful emotions. Sometimes bad behaviors with a good intention.
In this session we’ll use the Worksheet, as a starting point to dialogue directly out of the part of us that critical, domineering, defensive, angry, even wounded. When working directly with a client’s “little girl”, “rage monster”, “drill sergeant” or “armor/protector” we can take a close look at how these mechanisms influence our lives and how they can better serve us.
A Dialoging session requires experience in The Work, a playful and open mindset and a commitment to taking a hard look at the situation. Ideally bring a Worksheet on another person where you were strongly triggered with an intense reaction.
Logistics
My favorite way to work together is in person. A quiet place, either at my home or yours, is ideal. We can also use Skype or Zoom. What doesn’t work is background noise or distractions.
Payments
If financial resources are an issue that would prevent you from working with me please let me know. Available is sliding scale, financial assistance and paying what you can afford for session for the next client. This pay it forward model allows you AND a next person to understand themselves.
